I'm a forgiving person
like a leaf in a river never looking back on what has past
only pulling inspiration from the act of stupidity that got you in trouble in the first place.
which i now lack because you had to go off and do what we both know you'd do all along.
i forgive. i forget, though you haunt me in my sleep. replaying memories of your face and hands.
so real i feel as if i am watching you through a two way mirror.
like the mirror i was a slab of glass, right before you broke me into little pieces.
luckily the edges smoothed and the pain faded. so now i'll just wait, here i'll stay.
until one day, i am laid on top of color and made into stain glass and my flaws will be my beauty, all because of you and the scars you left, i will be seen as a rareity

fortyfive years
forty-five years. that's how long it will take for our lips to finally meet again. forty-five years until we realize planes can fly on the moon, and that watermelon and corn bread was the perfect layer of flavor for our mid-night craves and mid-aged hearts. in forty-five years the stars and moon will be the same ones we looked at on the night i swore to be yours as long as you'd have me, forty-five years before

Verbally Abusive
You called me verbally abusive after i called you the name of the unspoken. we continued down the isle of power tools, as each block of twenty seconds past i smack your hand off my butt, in sheer embarrassment. my face the color of your fire red beard as the father and daughter glance our way. i had come to the conclusion silence was the worse thing i could give you, the obvious sign of anger. as you pick up on it you try to lighten the mood by telling me lies and forcing anti-climatic stories of our future down my throat. exhausted by resistance i cave and allow three simple words to escape my tongue. the three words that changed everything. such an easy thing to say, such a difficult thing to take back.
From your Valentine
Yes, the Big V, none other than Valentine's day its self. Commonly known as the day of commercial love, Chocolate, and of course spending one hundred and fifty dollars on flowers for your special someone. Encase you weren't aware, a dozen roses raises in price from seventeen dollars to fifty five! don't blame me, i don't price them i just sell them to suckers. Besides the obvious meaning of Valentines Day what is it actually about? well, it dates back to 270 A.D., marriage had been outlawed by the emperor of Rome, Claudius II. Claudius issued this decree because he thought that married men made bad soldiers since they were reluctant to be torn away from their families in the case of war. Claudius had also outlawed Christianity in this time period because he wished to be praised as the one supreme god, the Emperor of Rome. Valentine was the bishop of Interamna during this period of oppression. Valentine thought that the decrees of Rome were wrong. He believed that people should be free to love God and to marry. Valentine invited the young couples of the area to come to him. When they came, Valentine secretly performed services of matrimony and united the couples.
Valentine was eventually caught and was brought before the emperor. The emperor saw that Valentine had conviction and drive that was unsurpassed among his men. Claudius tried and tried to persuade Valentine to leave Christianity, serve the Roman empire and the Roman gods. In exchange, Claudius would pardon him and make him one of his allies. St. Valentine held to his faith and did not renounce Christ. Because of this, the emperor sentenced him to a three-part execution. First, Valentine would be beaten, then stoned, and then finally, decapitated. Valentine died on February 14th, 270 A.D.
While in prison, waiting for his sentence to be carried out, Valentine fell in love with the jailer's daughter, the blind Asterius. During the course of Valentine's prison stay, a miracle occurred and Asterius regained her sight. Valentine sent her a final farewell note. He signed his last note, "From Your Valentine."
